Safe Sanctuaries
What is a Safe Sanctuary Policy?
We affirm our sacred responsibility as the Church to care for and protect the children, youth, and vulnerable adults entrusted to our care. Our hope is that Brownsville will always be a place of safety, trust, and compassion—reflecting God’s love in all we do. By taking every possible step to prevent abuse and by responding faithfully and appropriately when harm occurs, we partner with God in building a community rooted in love and justice. We seek to demonstrate integrity and model high ethical standards for the wider community.
Our goals are:
To safeguard children (ages birth–12), youth (ages 13–17), and vulnerable adults (18 and older who are unable to care for or protect themselves) from physical, sexual, or emotional abuse in all church-sponsored ministries and programs.
To respond swiftly and responsibly to any report of abuse—whether it occurs within the church or in connection with our ministries—ensuring the protection of victims, the cessation of harmful behavior, and the pursuit of healing and restoration for all affected.
To provide and maintain a secure environment where children, youth, and adults can participate in the life of the church—both in person and online—with confidence and care.
